In February 1925, an unidentified Black man was murdered by a white lynch mob in
Jacksonville, Florida a little more than a week after another Black man, Willie
Washington, was lynched.
According to reports, on February 8, a white man alleged that a “big burly Negro” assaulted a young white woman near Panama Park in Jacksonville. When news spread of the alleged assault, a white mob “of several hundred men”
including law enforcement terrorized the African American community by beating,
intimidating and indiscriminately shooting into Black-owned homes, killing an
unidentified Black man.
Most details about the life and death of this man remain unknown.
