Volunteer with 904WARD

Volunteers are the backbone of 904WARD.  We began as a volunteer-based organization, fueled by people committed to racial equity and systemic change.  That is the heart of who we are.  If that is your heart as well, we invite you to join us as a volunteer!

So, what do volunteers do exactly?

Lots of things!  From serving on committees to facilitating Race Cards conversations to researching history to helping set up for community fairs, there is a spot for everyone who is committed to this work.

How much time do I have to commit to?

That really depends on you!  All we ask is that you commit to serving in at least one event per year.  So, your commitment could be two hours or 200 hours - it's all about what works for you and your schedule.

I'm in!  What do I need to do to sign up?

Yay!! We're so excited to have you as a part of the 904WARD family!  The first step to volunteering is to sign up for Volunteer Orientation.  This session, which is held virtually, is 1.5 hours long and will provide you with all of the information and training you need to be a phenomenal 904WARD volunteer.  Just click on one of the dates below to register:

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at volunteers@904ward.org.

Intro to Racial Discussions

Race can be a challenging topic.  Even with the best of intentions, we can say the wrong thing or unknowingly offend someone.  It can bring up feelings of anger, shame, or guilt.  And sometimes, it's just uncomfortable, especially if you don't have the tools to navigate those kinds of conversations.  We have just the thing for you!

Intro to Racial Discussions is a two-hour session that gives you some tools and strategies to engage in conversations relating to and about race with more skill and grace.  While it won't solve every challenge, it will give you a little more confidence in having those discussions.

These virtual sessions are open to everyone; just click on the link to register! (Please make sure there are at least two weeks between the current date and the date of the session - there is some recommended reading)
